Zoom sessions are approximately 45 minutes long, and children can choose to be on screen to show the progress of their lego builds, just use the chat box to ask questions, or simply listen and watch the session and build by themselves; its totally up to you!
The sessions start with the opportunity for a little show and tell, introductions and then Nick will share the engineering brief for the session. Our young engineers will then go through the planning stage; selecting materials and evaluating ideas and aims, and discussing possible strategies.
The main part of the session is the build! Nick will encourage children to build according to the challenge and help along the way, as and when it is required. Children will spend lots of time being creative and inventive; testing out their ideas, re-jigging their builds, analysing the effectiveness, and having loads of fun! All the sessions just require some basic lego bricks (technic bricks may enhance the building experience, but are not essential), and other household items such as string or elastic bands. You will receive an email before the session to tell you what you will need, along with a zoom link and password.
For younger children, Lego Sense is a hands on, practical, creative and fun session, where children are guided by Nick, our STEAM coordinator and qualified engineer! Our young engineers get to explore all sorts of concepts and ideas from science, technology, engineering, art, design, maths and more… All by building Lego! These sessions also aim to boost well being, self esteem, confidence, and communication.
The sessions are relaxed, but structured, and Nick will guide and encourage the children through the engineering activities, whilst giving plenty of time and freedom to explore their creativity and building!
In addition, for older children, the sessions aim to enrich young people’s existing knowledge, skills and creative thinking in an informal manner. Nick, will support our young people as they navigate engineering challenges and concepts, develop critical thinking and problem solving, and meet like minded budding engineers!
Our sessions have been running since 2019 in schools, as after school clubs, holiday clubs, stand alone sessions and online classes. We also offer team building events, birthday parties, and bespoke workshops.
