Lael Salaets studied fine art and design at the University of Oregon and Lane Community College, where he received an AAS in graphic design. He resides in Eugene.

This work of an abstract painting series is inspired by Japandi: the fusion of modern Scandinavian design with the timeless elegance of a Japanese aesthetic. A framework of tiles serve as a path to follow, and to control the progression of motion through the space. Natural color choices are derived from moments of reflection that nothing is permanent.
