ART ACADEMY STARTS JANUARY 2020
Art Academy is a programme of authentic art for children (recommended age is 5-12) who are serious about all things creative!
It will run over four Sunday sessions across January, February, and March, at Umberleigh Academy, North Devon.
In the sessions children will create their own sketchbook full of artistic techniques, experiments and ideas, which will be the basis of then developing a portfolio of individual art. In addition, children will participate in a piece of collaborative art, which will then be auctioned off for charity.
We will look at well-known and local artists’ work, alongside nature, pop-culture, mixed media, literature, and our own interests, for inspiration and a deeper understanding of art practice.
There will be a focus on self-expression, and positive self-reflection, enabling children to feel a sense of pride and achievement, as well as developing an identity as an artist.
The idea behind Art Academy is to give children who love art the skills to really develop their own creative practice, no matter how old they are!
We will explore mark-making, drawing and sketching, painting, print-making, and 3-D Art, including clay-work, using a variety of art materials, including; watercolour paints, acrylic paints, inks, pens, charcoal, pastels, oil pastels, clay, coloured pencils, graphite pencils, chalk, textiles, metallic paints, natural materials, and more…
Children will receive a sketchbook and portfolio case, and all materials will be provided for them. All of the art they make is theirs to take home and be proud of!
We also have a super duper art kit that is optional to purchase, which will give children all they need to continue their art after Art Academy!
Art Academy will take place on the following dates: – 19th Jan or 15th Mar

- Sun 15th March
Sessions will run from 12.30 – 4.30, with a snack and break at 2pm – snacks provided!
Children can arrive from 12.15, and be collected until 4.45.
We recommend children come to all four sessions, but it is not compulsory.
The cost is £30 per session, which includes all materials, a sketchbook and portfolio of work to bring home and snacks.
Spaces are limited to 12 children.
